Strategy and Master Planning for a Life Science Campus

The client is a globally operating biopharmaceutical company specializing in the research and development of innovative medicines. Utilizing a newly discovered technology, it develops new therapies to combat severe diseases such as cancer.

The company anticipates significant growth of about 1,000 full-time equivalents and plans to expand its location with a new campus. The goal is to create an innovative work environment on a 35,000 m² site that harmoniously integrates research, production, offices, and social spaces like cafes.

A comprehensive strategy and master plan were developed for the new campus. Based on specific requirements, the tasks were clarified in close collaboration with project stakeholders, spatial, personnel, and process needs were determined, and optimization potentials were identified.

This led to the creation of various master plan variants, which included all relevant areas such as production, laboratories, offices, and social zones. A cost estimate according to DIN 276, a detailed timeline for project implementation, and a comprehensive area calculation based on urban planning metrics were also part of the planning.
