Umicore is a globally active materials technology company specializing in the production and recycling of specialty materials and metals. Its products serve primarily the chemical processing, automotive, construction, jewelry, and electronics industries.

To expand its production capacities for catalysts and tap into new markets, the company sought a suitable location in Eastern Europe. Metroplan supported the company from the initial business case decision for the construction of a new catalyst factory. Various regions in Poland and the Czech Republic were analyzed as part of the site selection process. Reference companies were also visited to identify the optimal conditions for the production and logistics plant. The region of Nowa Ruda, near the Polish-Czech border, was ultimately identified as the ideal site.

After selecting the location, Metroplan provided comprehensive support with the application for EU funding, land acquisition, and joining the Walbrzych special economic zone. Metroplan also handled the complete planning of the logistics warehouse, including permitting planning. Subsequently, we prepared the construction tender, obtained offers, and supported the award process.

During the construction phase of the 12,000 square meter new building, Metroplan took on comprehensive project management, integrating logistics and construction services. Furthermore, we were responsible for the complete implementation control and warranty management on-site to ensure project success.
