Factory Planning
A Data-Driven Recommendation for a Preferred Scenario
Our client operates eight plants across five European locations within one division. Due to changing political regulations governing the technical specifications of the products, the composition of the product portfolio will change significantly in the coming years. This change - manifested initially as rising demand for products that will eventually be phased out - will impact future space and capacity requirements.
Company management views this situation as an opportunity to work with us to rethink the structure of the European production network. Based on a sufficiently detailed dataset of headcount, production figures, and floor space quantities and qualities, scenarios are developed and evaluated in collaboration with all managers at the European locations. In this way, we move from the historically evolved allocation of machinery, capacities, and capabilities to a decision recommendation for the Executive Board and Supervisory Board.
The data-driven approach mitigates uncertainties and reduces risks by verifying the feasibility of the scenarios at this early stage. The collaborative development of alternatives and their subsequent evaluation ensure acceptance of the proposals.
This creates a solid foundation for subsequently implementing the redesigned production network.
