Preliminary Planning, Tendering, and Awarding
The customer is a globally operating provider of energy management solutions, helping utility companies worldwide modernize their metering infrastructure, build smart grids, and optimize energy management. As part of the company's global footprint strategy, expanding production capacities became necessary to meet increasing demand. For this purpose, a new production facility for smart meters was planned in eastern Hungary.
Metroplan assumed full project leadership for the planning and construction of the new production facility. This included collecting key process and building requirements from existing production facilities in the United Kingdom and designing the production and building layout for the Hungarian facility. The relocation of smart meter production from two UK locations to the new Hungarian plant posed a particular challenge, requiring detailed coordination of all involved processes.
In addition to planning, Metroplan prepared tender documents and solicited offers as part of the developer procedure. We also coordinated various client sub-projects, including IT, relocation, logistics, and production, to ensure seamless project implementation.
Another key aspect of our involvement was conducting investment calculations and profitability analyses, which formed the foundation for the business case. Metroplan led the contract negotiations with Hungarian developers to ensure successful project execution.
