Development of a Digitalization Roadmap and Implementation of an E-Procurement System
As one of Germany's largest public transport companies, Hamburger Hochbahn AG operates an extensive network of subways and city buses. The challenge was to replace an outdated SAP SRM solution and future-proof the supply chain processes with a modern e-procurement solution.
In close collaboration with Hamburger Hochbahn's departments, we first conducted a detailed analysis of the current state and derived a digitalization roadmap. Through interviews and workshops, optimization potentials were identified, and detailed requirements were defined. These served as the foundation for drafting a requirements specification and specific use cases.
The selection of the new e-procurement solution followed a structured tender process, actively involving the departments in the evaluation of providers. During the proof-of-concept phase, individual solutions were tested for their practical feasibility.
Despite a demanding schedule and a tight project timeline, the new solution was successfully implemented within just seven months. The previously analyzed potentials were realized, and procurement processes were sustainably optimized. The digital transformation of Hamburger Hochbahn's procurement processes was achieved without interrupting ongoing operations.
The project's success is rooted in the early development of a clear digitalization strategy and the continuous collaboration with all stakeholders. An outstanding effort by all participants, enhancing Hamburger Hochbahn's competitiveness and ensuring its future resilience.
