Modernisation | Re-Engineering

Clear guidelines and controlled implementation

The modernisation and re-engineering of existing warehouse and/or conveyor equipment makes the associated logistics systems more efficient.

Declining availability and limited service fulfilment due to changing market requirements are the main reasons why technical plants are modified. Sustainable modernisation or re-engineering makes the logistics facility fit for the future. For the main part, the company uses the modernisation to improve the efficiency of existing processes and create synergies between other functional logistics areas. The implementation stages are clearly defined and controlled to ensure successful modernisation. Only once requirements have been met, will the next stage begin.

Metroplan-Approach and methodology

The existing logistics system and associated processes are analysed using a structured, experience-based approach to spot weak areas in performance and functionality. The performance requirements and functionalities in logistical processes to be ensured in the future are defined in talks with the client. The modernisation concept is based on these definitions.

We consider different alternatives using a cost-benefit analysis; we then choose the preferred modernisation concept together with the client. We also create a standardised invitation to tender for the modernisation measures with a bid comparison. Finally, we support our client in deciding on contract awarding and implementation with our comprehensive implementation control service.
